Happy Birthday, Big Sis!

My older sister's birthday is this weekend. She's not a card person but I am so there!  Cuteness overload!

I experimented a bit with the background, finally settling on Worn Lipstick clouds and Cracked Pistachio grass. I was hesitant to use my Copic over the Oxide grass but cleaned the nib right afterwards and it seemed fine.

I'm entering this in Naughty or Nice #42 Colors or On the Move Theme, Simon Says Wednesday Add a Sentiment, Fab N Funky #361 Anything Goes

I'd also like to remind you of the current The Heart Desires Challenge #15.

Ready, Set, Blow!

I will confess this is my favorite of this year's back-to-school cards!  So bright and happy and dotty. The background is Distress Inks and Oxide, naturally, overlaid with the MFT cover plate.  The pierced clouds are an Avery Elle die set I picked up a while back but first time I've used. Love them! Coloring up the dragon was interesting as I used blues I don't normally reach for. This has definitely made me appreciate those Copic B single digits more for sure.

Rooting for You!

One of my nephews is starting high school--blows my old mind! I'm going to transition to making a different kind of cute card for him.  Sigh.

This one features rootbeer bottles quickly sponged with Distress ink and Copic colored labels. I love this color combo on top of the blue--masculine yet fun and fresh.  Of course, the punny sentiments help with the cute factor--see, I'm sneaking in the cute.  Shhhh!

I've Seen Your Future . . .

It's back to school time for my niece and nephews so you'll be seeing back-to-school cards from me for a few days. I love having young ones to design for!

My niece is all girlie girl so I went all girlie girl with the card. Lots of designer paper with stars, ruffly curtains and, of course, a fortune-telling penguin.  Duh.  LOL.  The inside says: "This year will be amazing, just like you." So perfect, right?!

A humorous hello card for my kid sister who is NBA tall--not wNBA, NBA. She's going to get such a kick out of this.

I'm including pics of me back in the day experiencing firsthand the joy of slimy giraffe tongue at a giraffe sanctuary outside Nairobi. Eww!

Happy Birthday, Amy!

Today's is the birthday of my friend, Amy.  Happy birthday, girl!  We're having a little hop to help her celebrate.  You should have reached here from Kimberly and are on way to Tonya.  Happy hopping!

If you've seen pics of Amy, you know she's a tiny thing.  So how could I not use my new Love Cynthia with that abso-perfect sentiment? I was all about balloons thanks to the recent CASology anniversary hop so mounted the diecut girl with foam tape on the MFT Happy Bday circle which provided the perfect spot to tuck in the end of the twine. I looped it because Amy is all over the place--squirrel!  I also used lots and lots of green, her fav color.  Have a wonderful birthday!

Cards in Envy Bug Me!

This round at Cards in Envy we're asking you to use an insect of some sort on your card. Easy!

I chose to create a simple sympathy card using a butterfly as my supply is dwindling unfortunately.  I kept it even simpler by working up the flowers in white--rather elegant. Hopefully I won't need to use this for a good long while.

Your Future Looks Primary

I'm always in need of graduation cards at work so I made a fortune-telling penguin card, naturally. My primary colors were inspired by SIP #110; these are not my standard colors so that was interesting. Next time lighter on the red although it does have a certain va-va-voom to it.  You can just see the Wink of Stella and sorta kinda the Glossy Accents on the lights. Much better pic of that, sorta kinda, below.

THD Challenge 15

Time for The Heart Desires Challenge 15! Come join in the fun!

Notice there's NO stamping on my card? Do I need to give you a moment to pick yourself up off the floor? LOL. I die cut, sponged and colored a bit but that's it. I especially love the EP Fireworks stencil and how the GMD flowers turned out. Heck, I wish _I_ were getting this card!

TIME OUT Reminder

My second card guest designing with TIME OUT! As a reminder, Challenge 88 is Inspired by Words:
If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely. --Roald Dahl
I focused on the face this time--look at the bliss radiating from mermonkey--so cute.  Some sponging, coloring, spattering, blinging, diecutting--geesh, about everything in this card!  Thanks to my friend, Amy, for helping make my birthday even more special!

HUGE Thanks

A quick thank you card for a buddy of mine who loves elephants. The background is both brushed and sponged then spattered with water. I loved the tone of the yellow paper against the purple plus the somewhat tribal pattern.  The grass stamp was different and better than I thought.  I'm going to be using this lots in my scenes!
