Jump!

I'm jumping for joy with how this card turned out!  She looks cute but then there's a weird dingly dangly tab sticking out of the top of the card--what's up with that?  Why, you can make her jump!!!!

I started out by sponging the background using Distress Inks and a couple of acetate masks I had made with Lawn Fawn and Mama Elephant dies.  Once I established the layout, I diecut the slot and built up the foam channel on the back.  Next I colored the leaves and girl, paper-piecing her hat and scarf with leftover Lawn Fawn fall plaid paper.

I added the pull tab as an afterthought because it wasn't easy to make her jump by grabbing onto her poor hat.  It's no problem with the tab and easy peasy to cut away the excess foam.  Notice the little stoppers about midway up?  That's to prevent her from jumping above the sentiment. Ignore the stamping and sponging you see.  I was repurposing paper.

Bigfoot

O.M.G.  I love this card so much!  Living in the Pacific Northwest, we're all about Bigfoot and now know how to catch sight of the elusive creature.  LOL.

Really simple card.  I stamped the trees a couple of times using Hero Arts Ombre Ink--really easy way to add depth and shadow.  I colored up Bigfoot, adding lots of texture for hair and a beard.  The coffee mug next in coordinating browns and complementary blue.  Then finally the absolutely perfect sentiment from Stamplorations for this card.  LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Hold On to What Keeps You Warm

My second card of the day!

This is so the time of year when I want to turn on the fire, grab a cozy throw, a book, and cuddle with my fur babies (including my partner who's a hairy thing!).   The sentiment from the Jen Hadfield Warm & Cozy paper pad sparked my idea and provided all the beautiful paper.  I love the image of Newton hugging his warm cup of coffee while leaves fall about him, don't you?  I dare you to try to wrest that cup away!

Mugs & Kisses

Another card for The Heart Desires and Coffee Lovers Fall Blog Hop.  I love the warm colors of this one so muuuuuch!   I stamped the leaves onto the mug then colored away with Copics.  I used leaves from the same set on the background then impressed the panel for texture.  I love the Neon Ombre leaves in particular--so unexpected and fun.  I finished it up with delicious Lawn Fawn plaid, a warm brown banner for the sentiment, and some enamel dots that make me want to get some Reece's Pieces.  Mmm, Reece's Pieces with some hot cocoa.  I'm so there!

Mmm, Pumpkin Spice

I am using my first SugarPea Designs stamps today.  So so cute!  And I'm excited that The Heart Desires has started carrying SugarPea with more on the way.  Woo hoo!

I first stamped the sentiment using ombre ink then die cut the fence.  I cut another fence and adhered the two together to create a bit of depth.  Next I used cloud and grass masks I keep on hand that I had made from transparency film and dies to sponge up the background.  The falling leaves and edges of the pumpkin were also sponged.

I saved the fox to color for last--should it be a male or female fox?  Do they look alike?  Yes, these are the things that went through my mind as I colored.  Did you notice the little paper-pieced plaid scarf?  This is how I justify hoarding scraps of my favorite paper.  You just never know when you're going to need it!

Happy Birthday, Tonya!

Happy happy happy birthday to my friend, Tonya!  Tonya is a kooky gal who makes me laugh.  She's also my enabler with her store, The Heart Desires.  THD has been open just a few months and has been a dream of Tonya's for a long while.  May all your wildest dreams come true, Tonya!

For the card I die cut the Smitten Kitten designer paper -- love those pierced edges and Tonya loves pink so how could I not use this paper.  Then I stamped and colored up the fairy.  It's easier to see in person but the yellow I added to the blue shade of her tunic and underskirt lend them an iridescent look.  The wings are sparkled up with some Wink of Stella too.  She is a fairy after all.  I next masked her off and sponged fluffy clouds using my homemade cloud mask.  The best part of the card tho?  It lights up!  Look at her glowing wand when you press her skirt.  Such a fun surprise!

You should have arrived here from Laura and are next hopping over to Kimberly to see what she designed in celebration of Tonya's big day!

Fall 2016 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

The Coffee Lovers Fall Blog Hop starts today!  Amy and her team do such a fab job with it how could I not work up a card or two or three?

I knew I wanted to used mixed media on this card because it's been a while since I've gotten messy.  I first sprinkled some Brushos on Ranger watercolor paper and gave it a bit of a spritz with water.  I like the "chunky" look of the sprinkles so was careful not to spritz too much.  While that dried, I worked on the coffee to-go cup doing some sponging and spattering.  The orange has a bit of a bokeh look which was unexpected but super cool.

With the watercolor panel dry, I spritzed it with Minc Reactive spray and set it aside to dry.  This seemed to take longer than usual--because of the watercolor paper?  I ran it through the laminator with Deco Gold Foil.  I love the texture that results from using the textured side of the watercolor paper.  Nice!

I struggled with layout then, duh, was inspired by the current THD challenge sketch.  I'm by no means a sketch girl but this one made it easy for me. I love the distressed, vintage look of this card which really stretched my creative mojo--yay!
